3 Year Anniversary - Dj Rob One Mega Post

Every year on June 25th I celebrate the anniversary of this site with a larger than usual post and this year is no different. If all goes according to plan I will be able to continue posting good music, and I will be back in 1 year with another mega post.

Today's post is something I have wanted to do for a while, and features someone who I feel isn't given the credit he deserves for his contributions in hip hop. Dj Rob One aka Robert Cory, passed away in 2000 at age 29 from symptoms related to non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I never had a chance to meet Rob, however I have crossed paths with lots of good people over the years who speak highly of him.

Eligh - 4 Tracks L.A & Back

My favorite album from 3MG and Living Legends member Eligh. Growing up this was the hardest Eligh album for me to track down. All the websites I checked were out of stock, and the few times I saw Eligh live he never had copies of this tape. I finally got my hands on a dub through a trade, and of course shortly after that I was able to track down an original.

Sacred Hoop - Unreleased Tape with Bonus Megabusive Tracks

Back again with more of the crew that is doper than your favorite crew. There is nothing official about this tape, I received it in a trade with a great trader from Hawaii in one of our first trades. I haven't heard this is a while, and I remember my copy sounding pretty dusty. I believe all of these tracks have since been released, however it sounds like some of them could be early demo versions. I don't have time to go through it all right now, but I believe the b-side is a collection of Megabusive tracks.

Shouts out to Dj Stef for being cool with me stealing her pic of the crew, and check out Stay Hatin for their April 8th podcast with Z-Man

Optimus Rhymes - Best Of Santa Cruz Mix

I spent some time in Santa Cruz last fall and had the chance to link up with Cosmic and Optimus Rhymes for a few hours. After we faded some delicious BBQ, they hit me off with a bunch of music for the drive up to SF. Included in that package was a mix Optimus put together of his favorite Santa Cruz hip hop. I really enjoyed this collection of tracks, outside of the JKC and Top Ramen tracks I hadn't heard any of the other artists, but I would love to hear more from them. I'm not sure if I got all the track names and artists right, some of the writing on the paper sleeve got smudged and is tough to read now.
